ABOUT RYAN

With a style similar to the likes of Elliott Smith, Nick Drake, and more, Hobler’s debut album, The Elusive Yes, is poised to be a masterpiece of powerfully moving songs that all listeners will be able to connect with intimately  - Earbuddy

Upbeat...catchy, well-crafted...with that early ’70′s Harry Nilsson/Gilbert O’Sullivan pop-ness about it.  It’s a good thing, especially in a time where “songwriters” are becoming scarce - Popdose

2014 NewSong Music Finalist

Best of NYC Emerging Artists Americana/Folk Rock - Deli Magazine

Eclectic folk-pop singer and genre-jumping songwriter Ryan Hobler has been playing music in and around his native New York for nearly two decades. Performing in various bands and working as a professional audio engineer, Hobler developed a refined, lyric-driven style with a sound that combines intertwining layers of natural acoustic tones, transporting vocal harmonies and surprising arrangements. Thematically, his songs range from intimate personal stories to surreal allegorical explorations that have been praised for revealing a "love, defeat, and resilience in each track” (examiner.com).

Influenced by folk-rock heroes like Paul Simon, Elliott Smith, and Nick Drake, Hobler’s driving force is a desire to connect with others, inspire them, and create great art. In 2015, with the help of renowned producer Andy Baldwin (Bjork, St. Lucia, Wakey! Wakey!), Ryan released his debut album, The Elusive Yes.

NEWS & UPDATES

THE DAY WE LAST SPOKE PREMIERES ON DINGUS

DINGUS has premiered "The Day We Last Spoke," the latest single off my album THE ELUSIVE YES. My favorite is the opening bit where our writer, Andrew Alexander, says:

I’m going to tell you right now: ‘The Day We Last Spoke’ is not a track that fits in with what your concept of cool 2015 music is. It doesn’t brandish hashtags like #cyberpunk or #politirock but that doesn’t mean shit to me.

Yes, friends this review deserves it's own hashtag trend. #LOVETHISGUY

Head on over to read the full writeup!

"BOB vs JACK vs THE WORLD" ELMORE MAGAZINE PREMIERE

My latest musical concoction: "Bob vs. Jack vs. The World" is like "With or Without You" for Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. And it just premiered to a nice writeup over on Elmore Magazine. It's the story about two frenemy thieves stuck quite literally in a dead-end situation. Imagine the last few minutes of the aforementioned film: the bandits are holed up, wounded and surrounded by the Bolivian army in an inescapable and unwinnable situation. Now just change "Butch" to "Bob", "Sundance" to "Jack" and the "Bolivians" to "The World." I wrote it thinking of this love/hate relationship I had with a friend of mine and then realized it sounded an awful like like that movie. Full disclosure: I still haven't seen that one in its entirety yet. Maybe I've seen just the end of it.
