ABOUT RYAN

With a style similar to the likes of Elliott Smith, Nick Drake, and more, Hobler’s debut album, The Elusive Yes, is poised to be a masterpiece of powerfully moving songs that all listeners will be able to connect with intimately  - Earbuddy

Upbeat...catchy, well-crafted...with that early ’70′s Harry Nilsson/Gilbert O’Sullivan pop-ness about it.  It’s a good thing, especially in a time where “songwriters” are becoming scarce - Popdose

2014 NewSong Music Finalist

Best of NYC Emerging Artists Americana/Folk Rock - Deli Magazine

Eclectic folk-pop singer and genre-jumping songwriter Ryan Hobler has been playing music in and around his native New York for nearly two decades. Performing in various bands and working as a professional audio engineer, Hobler developed a refined, lyric-driven style with a sound that combines intertwining layers of natural acoustic tones, transporting vocal harmonies and surprising arrangements. Thematically, his songs range from intimate personal stories to surreal allegorical explorations that have been praised for revealing a "love, defeat, and resilience in each track” (examiner.com).

Influenced by folk-rock heroes like Paul Simon, Elliott Smith, and Nick Drake, Hobler’s driving force is a desire to connect with others, inspire them, and create great art. In 2015, with the help of renowned producer Andy Baldwin (Bjork, St. Lucia, Wakey! Wakey!), Ryan released his debut album, The Elusive Yes.

NEWS & UPDATES

RYAN HOBLER TO APPEAR AT MONTCLAIR'S OLD MOGUL THEATRE

Montclair’s Old Mogul Theatre is proud to present local folk-pop singer, Ryan Hobler (with special guest and Montclair native, Matt Singer), in concert on December 4th, 2015 at 8:30pm (doors open 8pm). The concert will be held at The Old Mogul Theatre, 180 Bloomfield Ave, 2nd Floor, Montclair, NJ 07042 and will follow the annual Tree Lighting to be held on Church Street the same day.

To celebrate the Old Mogul Theatre’s opening and the expanding local music scene, Hobler is offering a free digital download of his album, The Elusive Yes, from now until December 4th on this website at the following link: http://ryanhobler.com/montclair

Additionally, he will be offering a free autographed copy of the album for anyone who purchases an advance ticket ($10) via Eventbrite

“To cap off the year here, at home, in Montclair, with my dear friends over at the Old Mogul – well, it’s truly an honor and honestly, a dream come true,” Hobler says. “When I first moved here three years ago, I quietly dreamed of immersing myself in the music scene in Montclair. With Outpost in the Burbs, Montclair Center Stage, and now, the Old Mogul Theatre, I am happy to be part of the dynamic and wonderfully evolving music scene here and now!”

Hobler is coming off an exciting year and a half which saw him releasing his debut album The Elusive Yes to rave reviews, performing at Lincoln Center as a NewSong Music Finalist, accolades in the Huffington Post, American Songwriter, Acoustic Guitar, and Deli Magzine, and numerous performances supporting national acts such as Susan Werner and Jesse Terry.

Joining Hobler as an opening act on December 4th will be his good friend, Montclair native and Brooklyn-based singer-songwriter Matt Singer. As they are oft to do, perhaps the two will collaborate on a song or two come show’s end.

THE ELUSIVE YES AVAILABLE NOW ON ITUNES & BANDCAMP + 5 STAR REVIEW

I am unbelievably excited and so very proud to announce that today marks the official wide release of my debut album, THE ELUSIVE YES. It's been such a long time in the making and I am so happy to finally share it with you in it's entirety. Download the record now on iTUNES or BANDCAMP!

Reviews are starting to come in and they are nothing short of mind blowing. Songwriting Magazine gave it 5 (out of 5) stars writing: "Hobler has recorded an album which proves he’s a songwriter of unparalleled skill, managing that elusive trick of being both introspective and universally appealing." Additionally they write: "these are songs of peerless quality which deserve to stand the test of time and become part of music’s great history."  WHOA, HIGH PRAISE!

The good folks over at Songwriting Magazine have also informed me that the only other artist who has received a 5 star review is none other than The Boss himself, Bruce Springsteen. That is crazy and I don't believe it for a second! Stay tuned for more reviews as they come in….
